During the summer of 2013, I started an Etsy shop called Mismatched Minis shortly after discovering my love of polymer clay miniature making. Since then, Mismatched Minis has evolved alongside my own development as an artist and storyteller. As a middle schooler, I honed my skills in creating small details while struggling with quality control. Mismatched Minis hit its stride while I was in high school, making over 700 sales for nerd-themed charms and jewelry. I gained more control and precision over my process, handmaking hundreds of miniatures. In college, I further developed the craft, incorporating techniques like mold making, casting, and sanding. I began to focus less on quantity of output and more on the story that my miniatures were telling. Today Mismatched Minis encapsulates my entire miniature making practice, acting as a genuine reflection of myself and my life. I draw on personal experiences, creating things that remind me of childhood and places that I have lived. Even though I have less time to dedicate to selling products now, I am proud to have an outlet for my craft that represents my identity as an artist and craftsman.
